Course Description:
The introductory course has lectures reviewing the history of osteopathic medicine, the principles and practices of manual medicine, and then five techniques are presented through lecture and lab.

Hip and Lower Extremities Course
The Hip and Lower Extremities Course covers the Hip, Knee, Ankle and Foot. Short lectures focus on the functional anatomy pearls for each joint. The primary focus of the course is on the lab demonstration of how to examine each joint to rule in or out a traditional orthopedic injury and then how to examine for and treat somatic dysfunctions of each joint. The core manual medicine treatment modalities covered in this course are muscle energy, HVLA, strain-counterstrain and soft tissue techniques.

Pelvis Full Course
The Pelvis course covers the Innominates, Pubes, and Sacrum. The course is divided into two parts: the innominates and pubes in the first part and the sacrum in the second part. The first lecture focuses on the functional anatomy pearls for the innominates and pubic symphysis followed by lab demonstrations on how to diagnose and treat the somatic dysfunctions in these areas. The second lecture covers the functional anatomy and dysfunctions of the sacrum. The core manual medicine treatment modalities covered in this course are Muscle energy, HVLA, Strain – Counter-strain, Soft Tissue Techniques, and the Still Technique.

Manual Medicine For the Pregnant Patient
Manual Medicine for the Pregnant Patient has two parts and two major themes. The first part is a power point lecture discussing manual medicine for the pregnant patient and the second part is the laboratory demonstration of how to examine and treat the pregnant patient with manual medicine. The two main themes that flow throughout this course are how to examine and treat the whole patient and specific treatment considerations for the pregnant patient.
